The program will run from July 8 to July 26, 2024.
What mentorship sites are available for 2024?
Please see our Mentor Sites page for detailed descriptions of the mentorship sites.
How do I apply?
You will be applying and enrolling in the YSSS program through the UConn Pre-College Summer program’s application portal. An email from the YSSS program will be sent with information on how to apply. Once you are assigned to a mentorship site, you will receive additional information about enrolling in the program.
Site preference will be given to the scholars that return their application by the deadline. Those scholars that miss the deadline will have to pick from the remaining sites after everyone else has been placed. Please note, YSSS is only open to Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholars.

Can I earn college credit?
Yes! We are so excited to be able to offer three (3) college credits to all scholars participating fully in mentorship site activities. Each faculty, staff, or graduate student mentor will give you a "grade" at the end of the three-week mentorship program and the UConn Registrar's Office will officially place three college credits, labeled as UNIV 1999, on your UConn transcript. You can then transfer these credits to the college or university of your choice, as long as the other institution accepts it. You can find specific instructions on how to request your transcript here: Transfer Credits.
